Hi, I’m Lana!

ABOUT ME

I have spent the better part of half my life cultivating a personal passion for, and more recently pursuing formal education in, fitness and nutrition as well as a wide variety of adjacent health topics that I am very excited to share with others through my coaching services. I spend the majority of my free time working on my old house with my husband, and spending time with our two dogs and large sassy sweet cat in beautiful Scio, Oregon. To balance out my work and the responsibilities of life, I enjoy resistance training, yoga, and spending as much time as I can outside. “Outside” for me most days just playing with my dogs in the yard, but when we have more time I love to spend it out hiking, on rivers whitewater rafting and fly fishing, camping, backpacking, and occasionally joining my husband for a hunting trip. Some of my other favorite things are slow mornings with good coffee, crafts of all kinds, cooking, gardening, reading and researching my interests. I also love music of all flavors, my gym speaker is ready for you to share your favorites during movement sessions. :)

COACHING

Early in my corporate career, I had the joy of working with a more tenured colleague who, when asked how they were doing, would pause and wryly say: “Surviving.” The further I get in life, the more that response echoes when I’m asked that same question. I reflect often that it can be such a struggle to remember and practice that there is so much more to life than just surviving!

I believe a big part of finding more in life, comes from how we show up for ourselves. It isn’t always easy, but it can be simple. True self care: The kind that helps us handle life when it’s heavy. The kind that sometimes may feel hard to do when you’re already so overwhelmed, but that ultimately makes you more resilient, more grounded, more you and helps you to reach all of your goals and connect better with yourself and those around you.

My personal health journey has been through trauma, profound loss, chronic and acute illness and injury, heartbreak, career and financial stress, and more chaotic DIY projects and old-house surprises than I’d like to admit. I’ve lived through many seasons that didn’t feel like mine, didn’t feel that I’d even make it through—and learned a lot along the way as I kept and keep reaching to know myself, and to building my physical and mental health in real-life, messy and imperfect ways. With this experience, I feel called to contribute in my local community, to build true health-supporting community for myself and for others, and to share knowledge, ideas and practical support.

I believe that wellness is about coming home to your body, mind, your fullest self —learning to feel it, listen to it, trust it, and build it up—especially when life can make that feel daunting at best, hopeless or impossible at worst.

My coaching approach centers around:

  • Listening - not lecturing

  • Individualized process - not just programming

  • Diversity in modalities - I don’t dig dogma

I draw from my personal and educational experience in a wide body of health topics and training styles. I am committed to lifelong learning and evidence-based experimentation and I am currently a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and studying in a 200-hour yoga teacher training.

I hope to create a space where moving and caring for your body is not overwhelming; where your body is not a problem to fix, but something to support and appreciate; and where your work toward your physique and health goals can coexist with your full life.

If these thoughts resonate with you, I’d be honored to walk beside you on your journey! Please get in touch! I look forward to hearing from you.
